Education Committee:  Please meet in the church kitchen today following the morning service.  Elders and Congregation -- There will not be a regular Elders’ Meeting in April.  The Elders are planning to go to an Elders’ Training at North Street CRC on Thursday, April 26 at 6:30 pm.

 

Congregation:  A volunteer is needed!  Children in Worship is looking for another Leader who would teach once every 3-4 weeks. Graduates (8th grade, High School and College):  Please fill out a graduation form (located on the shelf in the narthex) and put form in Robin Fennema’s mailbox by next Sunday, April 29. Graduates will be honored on Sunday, May 6 during the morning worship service.

 

Mary Scharphorn will be walking in the Holland/Zeeland Crop Walt on the weekend of April 28-29.  If anyone would like to support this with non-perishable food donations or with a money donation, please let her know.  Thank you for your prayers and support over the years.

 

We had a lot of winners and 2nd & 3rd place cars at the Grand River Council Derby Races.  4th grade winner was Jacob Baker.  5th grade winner was Nathiel Fiekema.  6th grade winner was Zach Geerlings.  8th & 9th grade winner was Tylar Bouwkamp.  The overall winner was Nathiel Fiekema!!  So as you can see North Blendon CRC Cadets’ derby cars were fast and furious!!  GREAT job to all our racers!!

Outreach will be hosting a Block Party again this summer.  Please mark your calendars for Saturday, August 18.  We are also looking for people to show their cars, motorcycles, or tractors. If you know of anyone who does this, please share the date with them.

Bible League Spring Luncheon is Thursday, April 26 at 11:30 am at North Street CRC in Zeeland.  Guest speakers will be Pastor Phil and his wife, Sonnet Quinn, of Trinity Reformed Church in Holland.  They will present a dramatic retelling of the story of Ruth as she journey’s to the land of her mother-in-law.  Lunch donation is $7.50 and an offering will be collect for Latin America Project.  If you want to attend, call Carol Overweg for reservations at 895-7544 by April 18.

Grand River Cadet-O-Rama/Pinewood Derby Races will be held at Second Church of Allendale on Tuesday, April 10.  Weigh-in is 6:00-6:30 pm and races will follow.  Food will be available. Come out to watch the races and check out the projects the Cadets from other churches have worked on this year.  Parents, Grandparents, and friends are invited to come out for the fun.  Cadets:  Turn in your orders at the Pinewood Derby Races on April 10.  If not going to be there, turn it in on Sunday, April 15. 

 

GEMS End of Year Fun Day will be Saturday, April 14 from 10:00 am - 2:00 pm.  We will meet at church, then go skating and have pizza for lunch.  Parents can pick up their girls at 2:00 at church.

Worship Committee is interested in getting groups of musical instruments together for playing with the Praise Team.  If you are interested, please let Deirdre know.

 

Sunday School has done some Spring Cleaning.  We have Sunday School books we no longer use.  These are the teachers’ books only (the student books are no longer in print) from the Walk With Me curriculum.  There are a variety of books from Preschool - 8th grade available.  We did save out 1 copy of every book for future use - like VBS or alternate Sunday School lessons.  Please help yourself to the books.  They are on the Sunday School table in the church basement.  Also, if anyone know of a Mission that can use the books, please let Jill von Dobschutz know.

 

Cadet Flower Sale will run from today to Sunday, April 15.  Baskets will be available at church for pick up on the morning of Saturday, May 12 — just in time for Mothers’ Day!  The baskets will be provided by Meadowridge of Zeeland and will be 10-inch white pots.  Cost is $15.00 each.  Payment should be made at the time of ordering and checks payable to NBCRC Cadets. If a Cadet doesn’t contact you, you may use the order form on the shelf in the back of church.  Thank you for your support! 

 

Secret Grandmother/Person Tea will be held on Monday, April 16 from 6:30-9:00 pm in the church basement.  Supper will be included.         

  

1-2 Volunteers Needed:  The Christmas Program Committee is in search of 1 or 2 new members for the 2018 Sunday School Christmas Program.  This is a two year commitment.  We are also welcoming any interest in playing piano with the Sunday School children during the program.  As planning starts soon, please let Alexandria Buist know by April 15 if you are interested or have any questions.

 

Outreach will be hosting a Block Party again this summer.  Please mark your calendars for Saturday, August 18.  We are also looking for people to show their cars, motorcycles, or tractors. If you know of anyone who does this, please share the date with them.

-Love INC of Allendale is looking for the following volunteers:

   1.  Receptionist - from 9-3 on Wednesdays (could be split with 2 people) and 9-1 on Fridays

   2.  2-3 volunteers at the Thrift Store or Donation Center  (anywhere between 2-4 hours any day of the week)

   3.  Coach/Counselors/Teacher - We are adding new programs this year and are looking for those willing to help.  We would like to talk more about the different roles if you are interested.  No immediate need, just trying to get a list together of folks who are willing that we can reach out to when the need occurs.  Please call Caleb at either 616-895-5683 or 616-648-4203 (mobile).

Grand River Cadet-O-Rama/Pinewood Derby Races will be held at Second Church of Allendale on Tuesday, April 10.  Weigh-in is 6:00-6:30 pm and races will follow.  Food will be available. Come out to watch the races and check out the projects the Cadets have worked on this year.

 

GEMS End of Year Fun Day will be Saturday, April 14 from 10:00 am - 2:00 pm.  We will meet at church, then go skating and have pizza for lunch.  Parents can pick up their girls at 2:00 at church.
