November 24, 2019

WELCOME!  It is a genuine joy to have everyone here for worship, for fellowship, for learning more about the Christian way, and for preparing for a new week of service.  God has been good to us!  Let us join together to praise the Lord.

—Today, during our morning service, Jacob Bronkema will publicly profess his faith in Jesus Christ.

Banner Symbolism:  Just as the bright sun nourishes the plant, so the Holy Spirit nourishes the faith of the believer.  The Lord, who is the Good Shepherd (crook), promises to care for His child, Jacob.  He offers forgiveness (cross) and life eternal to all believers (the leaf attached to the cross-crook).

—Everyone is invited to the church basement following our morning worship service for a time of cookies, coffee/punch, and fellowship.

Calling all artists!  If you are in 6th grade and up, Pastor Aaron needs your help.  He is looking for artists to illustrate his evening messages from Revelation.  Contact Pastor Aaron and he will assign you a chapter and give details on what he needs.  Thank you for being willing to share your gifts.

From the Outreach Committee:  We are planning to once again do Thanksgiving Baskets through Love INC.  Consider having your family, or join together with another family, prepare a Thanksgiving Basket and show love to others in our community.  Details will be coming soon.

Christian School Tuition Assistance will be disbursed in November.  If you are in need of extra funds, please contact Tony Hassevoort at 616-836-1473 by November 10.

The Mexico team is making apple pies on November 16, just in time for Thanksgiving.  Order forms are on the shelf or contact one of the team members.  (Last day to order is Sunday, November 10).  Pies will be available for pick up after 10:30 am in the church basement.  The cost for the pies is $12 for the first pie and $10 for each additional pie. We are making Dutch apple and double crust pies.  The pies will be made from scratch using local fresh apples and handmade crust and topping.

Help is needed to make apple pies .  If you can come, please sign up on the sheet on the shelf or talk to Nancy Miedema.  We will be meeting in the basement at 9:00 on Saturday,  November 16.

Is your shoebox ready?  Here is a list of suggested items to include and not include in your box:  DO include toys, dolls, stuffed animals, jump ropes, school supplies, toothbrushes, socks, mild bar soap (in a Ziploc bag), hair clips, sewing kits, tool sets, the possibilities are endless.  DO NOT include toothpaste, candy, breakable items, liquids or lotions, chocolate, food, toy guns, knives, military figures, or war related items.   Deadline to bring in your shoeboxes is November 17.  Please include $9 for each shoebox to cover shipping.  You may write a check to NBCRC Sunday School or include cash (and we will send one big check), or write your check to Samaritan’s Purse, or make your donation online.  Shoeboxes and labels are available on the Sunday School table in the church basement.  Please contact Jill vonDobschutz or Becky Sorensen with questions.

The Education Committee is looking for volunteers to be 3-Point Leaders.  They are looking for individuals or couples who would be willing to work with the youth of our church.  This is a wonderful opportunity to help prepare our youth to live their lives for Christ.  Is God calling you? Please contact Walt Horinga if you are willing to help with this ministry.

Pig-in-the-Blankets are restocked and available for purchase.  They are $12 a dozen.

The churches of North Blendon (RCA & CRC) are co-hosting a benefit concert for Hurricane Dorian relief featuring the music ministry of Down Home.  The group's music style includes old gospel songs, old hymns, and traditional harmonies.  Concert will begin at 7:00 pm on November 16 and will be held at North Blendon Reformed Church.  In September 2019, Hurricane Dorian ravaged through the islands of the Bahamas and damaged many other areas including parts of Southeast United States. In total, Hurricane Dorian left behind considerable damage, significant economic losses, and even some fatalities. Let us join together in worshiping God through supporting a worthwhile cause and enjoying the music ministry of Down Home!  A freewill offering will be received and a time of fellowship will follow the concert.

Cookies are needed for the fellowship time following the Down Home Concert.  If you can help, please sign the sheet in back of church with your name and how many cookies you will to bring.  Bring your cookies labeled “Down Home Concert” to the kitchen in our church basement and someone will bring them to the concert.  Thank you for helping with this community outreach.

World Renew Gift Catalogs are available on the Missionary Table in the back of church.  What a wonderful way to give to others and make an impact on their life!  Look through the catalog at the many items that can be purchased and get your family involved in choosing what to give.  If you want, you may make a purchase and honor a friend or a loved one.  Pick up a catalog today and check it out!

Plan to join together for a Thanksgiving Day Service at 9:30 am on Thursday, November 28.  Our service will begin at 9:30 am.  We plan to collect non-perishable items for Love I.N.C..  Bring your donations on Thanksgiving Day and place in front of the sanctuary prior to the service.
